Where does our money go?
Our goal is to raise money for charities within Gloucestershire. All profits after allocation of prizes and expenses are divided two ways, 80% to the James Hopkins Trust and 20% managed by Gloucestershire Lottery to benefit other charities spread throughout Gloucestershire.
• James Hopkins Trust
The aim of the Trust is to help severely disabled, life threatened and life limited young children aged 0 - 5 years in Gloucestershire, so that the quality of their lives may be enriched.
This aim is achieved through three objectives:
- free respite care in the family home , or at our Multi Sensory facilities at Kites Corner
- financial assistance for visits to specialist hospitals,
- and equipment specially designed for children with disabilities
Respite care is by far our most important and most requested provision. For a growing number of families it is a lifeline of desperately needed support.
If you know of anyone that would benefit from this help then please visit the James Hopkins Trust website
• St John Ambulance Gloucestershire
The leading first aid charity in the UK. Within Gloucestershire we have 619 volunteers across all ages, they undertake roughly 120,000 hours of volunteering each year, treating 1,700 patients throughout their many roles within the organisation.
We are most well known for our provision of first aid cover and many of the counties public events; however this is just the tip of the iceberg of services we provide.
We have 143 Community First Responders operating within the county, assisting the Great Western Ambulance Service to enhance patient care and increase the survival rate from life threatening emergencies. We have around 270 youth members between the age of 5 and 25 years, who learn fundamental life skills in a fun and vibrant environment, many of whom also go on to become our adult volunteers.
We also provide a patient transport service, assist the Ambulance Service in times of strain and crisis and provide a hospital library service.
Through our charitable training programmes we also provide an array of first aid training courses accessible to the community, schools and youth groups.
We receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of individuals to continue our vital services within Gloucestershire.
‘We are delighted to be involved with the all new Gloucestershire Lottery. The James Hopkins Trust has spent over twenty years committed to helping disabled children and their families in our county.
Through The Gloucestershire Lottery our community will be working with us to improve and enrich the quality of life of some of the most deserving children in Gloucestershire.
Wouldn't you rather know your lottery money was spent locally? Join and support your county and your community.’

‘The nursing care Matthew received was invaluable at a desperate time of need, which we will always be forever grateful.’
The Hall family from Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham received valuable respite care from The James Hopkins Trust for their youngest son Matthew when sadly he was diagnosed with the rare condition called Late Infantile Battens Disease.
